Personal Body Safety classroom lessons
Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Reeves Elementary School guidance department will be offering instruction in personal body safety for students during the month of February. Our purpose is to foster awareness and to offer a sound prevention based program that teaches students to avoid situations of potential harm and steps to take should a threatening situation occur. Basic prevention skills with clear, understandable techniques are communicated with the students. The curriculum, which is used district-wide, is designed specifically for each grade level ensuring that the material covered is age appropriate.

We hope you will be supportive of this program that will enhance the self-esteem and self-preservation skills of our students. We believe it will be a beneficial experience for all of our students. As always, we will appreciate your discussions with them regarding what is covered at school and reinforcing key safety skills with your child at home.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.
Thank you!
Mrs. Haile and Mrs. King

Classroom Guidance Lessons
We are so excited to be visiting our classrooms to have lessons! Our topic for November/December is Friendship & Bullying. This is such a hot topic in the news right now and we want to make sure that our students know what a true friend really is, what a bully is, and how we can all keep ourselves from becoming bullies.

Check back later for more details on lessons to come in January!

Welcome Back!
Hello and Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

We are so excited to see our Marlins making their way back to Reeves for another exciting school year.

Mrs. Haile will be the counselor for Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grades this year, and Mrs. King will be working with CD, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. Mrs. Haile is taking some time off at the beginning of the year, though, to be home with her brand new baby girl! Mrs. King will be here every day, and will be covering all grade levels until Mrs. Haile returns. Please contact Mrs. King if you have any concerns to share.

To call your counselor, you may dial the main school phone number (843.695.2450) and the extensions are: Haile 20021; King 20022. Or you may email:
khaile@dorchester2.k12.sc.us or cking@dorchester2.k12.sc.us

We look forward to another wonderful year with our RES Marlins. Marlins ROCK!
Have a wonderful summer!
Mrs. Haile and Mrs. King wish all of our Marlins a safe and relaxing summer! Remember those safety tips we talked about in our last lesson...

*Use sunscreen anytime you are outside.
*Bike helmets are essential!
*Water safety & supervision - use those lifejackets and swim with a grown-up!
*Tell a grown-up where you are going to play outside.
*Have a plan for emergencies.

Enjoy your time with your families and we will see you back at Reeves in August!
